A Letter From Rebecca

Culture makers change the conversation. I keep coming back to this statement as WITH Ministries reshapes conversations around disability and the church. Across the country, pastors are beginning to embrace a new vision: one where people with disabilities are not merely served by the church but welcomed as essential members and ministry partners within it. That vision is gaining momentum.

In many places, however, we are not simply changing the conversation. We are starting it.

Again and again, pastors and ministry leaders tell me, “I’ve never thought about this before.” Years ago, those words might have discouraged me. Today, they fill me with hope. Because I am witnessing God change hearts in real time.

This spring alone, I’ve gathered with hundreds of pastors and ministry leaders engaging in conversations around disability inclusion: many for the very first time. What happens next is remarkable. Perspectives shift. Assumptions are challenged. New possibilities emerge.

One pastor attended Worship As One out of a sense of obligation. As he listened, learned, and engaged throughout the experience, he recognized gaps in his understanding and left with a transformed perspective. Today, he is intentionally pursuing and welcoming families impacted by disability into the life and worship of his church community.

Following a church planters’ equipping lunch, two pastors reached out to continue the conversation. Both described a significant shift in their willingness to engage and an eagerness to take meaningful next steps toward greater inclusion. They expressed interest in introducing WITH to their church planting network, creating opportunities for a broader conversation around belonging and disability inclusion.

I am watching pastors move from ignorance to understanding, from hesitation to action, and from seeing disability ministry as a program to embracing belonging as a core expression of the Gospel. The narrative is changing: from wounding to welcome.

Thank you for making this possible. Every conversation, every changed heart, and every new commitment to belonging is part of the impact you are making.
